First Aid at Work Course
Who is this course for?
Nominated workplace first aiders, or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid.
Course Content:
This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to deal with a first aid emergency in the work place. The course is split into 20 modules, these are:

- What is First Aid?
- First Aid in the Workplace
- Responsibilities for the First Aider
- Action in an Emergency
- Primary Survey
- Secondary Assessment
- Breathing & Circulation
- Principles of Resuscitation
- Disorders of Respiration /Airway obstruction and breathing disorders
- Disorders of the Circulation
- Wounds & Bleeding
- Bites & Stings
- Disorders of Consciousness
- Foreign Objects
- Burns & Scalds
- Bones, Joints & Muscle Injuries
- Poisoning
- Effects of Heat & Cold
- Child & Baby Basic Life Support
This is usually offered as a three day course, however we can offer it as a split course over several weeks, depending on the client's requirements.
Assessment and certification
After completing a final assessment, successful candidates receive a level 3 HABC approved certificate, which allows you to practise first aid for three years, after which a re-qualification course becomes necessary. This is a one day course, which a1 training can also offer.
It is strongly recommended that you update your skills by taking our annual refresher.
